Puppetry
I admit it. I have a thing for puppets. Ever since I was a little kid I loved them. Even now, they
fascinate me, as you would know if you've seen me do the First Grade lesson with the puppets. What fun!
Here's another type of puppet: shadow puppets. I remember trying to do them when I was little. I never was
any good, but I still thought they were neato.
Here's a master, though. Check out this site:

Attica!
Usually, Gecko sleeps. He may break things up by eating and pooping. Most reptiles aren't known for being particularly
active. Sometimes, though, just to add a little variety, he acts kinda weird....

Red Catches My Eye
When in the woods, the color red catches my eye. Without noticing it, my head will turn to find that bright spot in the corner
of my eye.
What has caught my eye lately is the deep red of the red gum trees, those almond-shaped heart's blood red
leaves standing out against the still-green branches.
But, it is only the first days of August. Why would they be
turning already? This has been a rather mild summer with record-breaking amounts of rain, but I'm not sure how or if that
would correspond to an early change of leaf color.
Are the lovely gum trees dying, drowned by the excessive rains?
I certainly hope not. The gums have been some of our most hardy trees in recent years, what with the oak blight.
I
love our woods, the ten peaceful acres around our house. The smell of the oak leaves and cinnamon ferns, the flash of birds
and squirrels in the limbs, a glimpse of deer tracks by the creek. Owls and whippoorwills calling in the dusk. Bats swooping
and darting in the larger openings in the canopy. ...think I'll go for a walk this evening....
