For those of you Roman-numeral illiterate or been living on the far side of the moon, this Sunday is Super Bowl 43.
Many people already know of my undying love of football. While I have been, and ever will be, a Cowboys
fan, I have a great appreciation for other teams, especially through my respect of certain coaches and players.
This allows me to really enjoy any game. Even when I don't have a favorite team playing, I love to watch great
plays, and will root for any team that has just made a spectacular catch, block, or tackle. I love all aspects of the
game and appreciate watching any person who does something really well.
Super Bowl 43 features the Pittsburg Steelers
and the Arizona Cardinals. I have mixed feelings about who I will be rooting for.
The Steelers have some
of my favorite players currently active in football, namely Big Ben Roethlisberger , Troy Polamalu, and Hines Ward.
I like their coach Mike Tomlin not only because of his ability to run the team but also because of his personality.
He first came up on my NFL Fav Radar when, asked by a reporter if he was stressed about the game, he stated that "stress
is feeding your family." THAT'S a guy to admire.
The Cardinals have my attention, too. I've
always liked Kurt Warner, the QB who lead the Greatest Show on Turf and winning the 1999 Super Bowl. I've also inherited
by Grandma Campbell's love for the underdog, so I'll be rooting for the Cards, too.
Basically, I'll
be happy either way, as long as the players and coaches play their very best. I dearly hope it is a great game.
Then of course, there are the commercials.
Super Bowl XLIII, Sunday 02/01/09. Kick off at 5:18 pm Central
time.
Monday Night Football games "start" at 7pm, but of course they have 30 minutes of bull-oney
before the actual kick-off. To fill my time with something other than the mindless chatter of talking football heads,
I ventured over to a new show, The Big Bang Theory.
LOVE IT! Lots of geeky, sci fi, and basic science humor.
You don't have to be a science major to understand the humor (though it helps), but you do need to have some basic
knowledge of such topics as Star Trek, comic book heros, and mathematics. Don't be scared away by this -- you
will understand all things if you are a geek, and most of them even if you're not.
The
Bing Bang Theory Theme Song - by Bare Naked Ladies
Our whole universe was in a hot dense state, Then nearly fourteen billion years
ago expansion started. Wait... The Earth began to cool, The autotrophs began to drool, Neanderthals developed
tools, We built a wall (we built the pyramids), Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries, That all
started with the big bang!
"Since the dawn of man" is really not that long, As every galaxy was
formed in less time than it takes to sing this song. A fraction of a second and the elements were made. The bipeds
stood up straight, The dinosaurs all met their fate, They tried to leap but they were late And they all died
(they froze their @$$es off) The oceans and pangea See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya Set in motion by the
same big bang!
It all started with the big BANG!
It's expanding ever outward but one day It
will cause the stars to go the other way, Collapsing ever inward, we won't be here, it wont be hurt Our best
and brightest figure that it'll make an even bigger bang!
Australopithecus would really have been sick of us Debating out while here they're catching deer (we're catching viruses) Religion or astronomy, Encarta, Deuteronomy It all started with the big bang!
Music and mythology, Einstein and astrology It all started with the big
bang! It all started with the big BANG!
